Seeing the lavender fields in Provence has been on my “European Bucket List” for a while, so when I saw really cheap flights only a week out [during prime lavender time!] I immediately jumped to buy them. And, lucky for me, I also managed to convince a couple friends to join me.
It was a very quick trip [only 2 days], but we somehow managed to shoehorn in several great sights while simultaneously having a wonderfully relaxing time. I’ll mention the other highlights later in a separate post… for now: LAVENDER!
We were staying in the Roussillon/Gordes area of the region. That’s not really the area with the most fields or the biggest fields, but we selected it based on other things we wanted to see/do. It did prove a little challenging to find lavender fields around there, as we were mostly driving past vineyards & orchards [side note: the local produce & wines are top notch]. When we were in Roussillon, we took advantage of its views over the surrounding countryside to scope out some fields and had quite a bit of success in the end! Keep scrolling all the way to the end for GPS locations of the exact fields we found!
Field #1 [it was by far the best one we saw!] is on the west side of Roussillon:
Field #2 is to the northeast of Roussillon:
